2017 Brief - Banned Books
ISTD, aka the International Society of Typographic Designers developed a brief called Banned Books. It revolves around creating a digitally dynamic book that will test how typography and imagery can narrate themselves in a way that printed books cannot.
'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time' has been criticised by certain schools for its vulgar use of language, considering its young audience. It addresses important themes such as mental illness, self-discovery, family and more. With the use of animations and triggered pop-ups, I use typography to evoke certain feelings and emphasise the controversial nature of the book.
